Ethel L. Ficken, 86, of El Paso passed away peacefully at her home on the farm surrounded by her family at 9:30 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2015.

She was born on September 22, 1928 in Panola, IL a daughter of Chasteen and Edna Fauber Major. She married Edward L. Ficken on June 16, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. He passed away on February 22, 2004.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Dale) Brown of El Paso, IL; two sons, Robert (Belinda) Ficken of Arlington, TX; William Ficken (Kent Tiedt) of Bluffton, SC; nine grandchildren, Robert Ficken of Knoxville, TN; Kristina (Ben) Crosby of Oregon, IL; Deborah Ficken of Genoa, IL; Armando (Ashley) Camacho, III of Arlington, TX; Candice (David) Phonsavath of Fort Worth, TX; Johnathan (Meri) Jones of Nags Head, NC; Curtiss Jones of Euclid, OH; Melissa (Scott) Bertuca of Wheaton, IL; Michelle (Brian) Fagan of Naperville, IL; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Donovan, Gracelyn Camacho; Lily, Marshall Crosby; Logan, Lindsay, Larissa, Madison Jones; Samantha, Anthony, Gabrielle, Nicholas Bertuca; Margaret, Sean, Colleen, and Aoife Fagan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Ethel was a homemaker on their farm for over 60 years. She enjoyed painting, reading, music, and spending time with her family. She was an avid collector of everything that was butterfly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Rev. Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso.
